Governor Cuomo
Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. The statements below were made by Gov. Cuomo yesterday.
Lets start with the statement,
"I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances," Cuomo said.
First Gov. Cuomo was not asked did you "ever" touch anyone inappropriately. He was responding to the AG's report. You cannot use the word "never" for the word "no."
Unless you are asked did you "ever" which is not the case here.
He uses the word "inappropriate" and "inappropriate sexual advances" this word can mean different things to Gov. Cuomo it would depend on what he feels is "inappropriate" behavior. There is a difference on his interpretation of "inappropriate" and how others view this word and the his behavior. He did not state "I didn't sexually harass these women."
Bill Clinton used this same tactic when he made his famous statement,
"I never had sexual relations with that woman Ms. Lewinsky" Bill Clinton could not come out with a bold faced lie and state " I never had sexual contact with that woman Ms. Lewinsky." So he changed the word "contact" to the word "relations" in Bill Clinton mind "sexual relations" means intercourse, he did not have intercourse with her so that was a truthful statement, he did have oral sex with her that is sexual contact, which he tried to deny by using the word sexual relations.
"I am 63 years old. I've lived my entire adult life in public view. That is just not who I am."
This is a very true statement he has lived his adult life in public view, that is not the issue. It was how he acted behind closed doors when no one was watching or listening.
The word "just" is not needed here and minimizes his statement.
Based on his statements Gov. Cuomo has a serious problem.
Embattled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday strongly denied claims in a bombshell report by the state Attorney General's Office, which found that he had sexually harassed at least 11 women and oversaw a "toxic culture" of fear and intimidation in his office.
"I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances," Cuomo said.
"I am 63 years old. I've lived my entire adult life in public view. That is just not who I am."
Cuomo said his lawyer Rita Glavin prepared a point-by-point rebuttal to the findings of the scathing report overseen by Attorney General Letitia James after an investigation in which he was questioned for 11 hours.
"The facts are much different than what has been portrayed," the governor said. "Read the facts and decide for yourself."
He flatly denied an allegation that he groped a woman in the office of his home in Albany after summoning her to the governor's mansion.
